We? Wie is ‘we’? Tegenwoordig probeert men in de media om de haverklap je ergens bij te betrekken met ‘we’: ‘we scrollen twee uur per dag door TikTok’, ‘we nemen onze smartphone mee naar bed’, ‘wat we zeggen, hoe we het zeggen, en waarom’, ‘waarom we bang zijn voor …’. En nu dus ook weer ‘we wisten dat de planeet in gevaar was en we deden niets’. Ik voel mij daar helemaal niet door aangesproken – daar kom ik later nog op terug.
For her, ecology is both a science and an awareness "that there is a future, a responsibility for that future". Ecology is therefore inseparable from politics – politics in the sense of the art of governing and the art of living as a community. That way, ecology is a field of struggle, or more precisely, of class struggle. The struggle for the environment encompasses the workers' struggle for a clean working environment, for healthy living and working conditions – and vice versa: public health requires a clean environment.
